Bria has stormed onto the jazz scene with her smoky vocals, blistering trumpet, and compelling compositions and arrangements.

In 1991 Stan Kessler, trumpet and flugelhorn, put together a group of then-young KC jazz musicians to play nothing but Brasilian jazz with a flavor and passion that one might think could only be found at a nightclub in Ipanema or Leblon. Thus, The Sons of Brasil sprung to life from the members love and admiration of “musica bem brasileira.”

Lucy is a recent semi-finalist in the annual Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition. Downbeat Magazine calls her “An Outstanding Jazz Vocalist.” Her accompanist-father, Bram, a highly respected stride pianist and piano technician, has graced our stage numerous times and has cared for our TJW grand piano for many years. This will be a very special afternoon.
