OCTOBER 22, 2077 THE BRAM WIJNANDS SWINGTET
Our favorite KC stride-pianist brings us his unique swingtet built around Bram’s piano, a drummer and 3 reed players who switch between clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone sax. Their repertoire is a combination of 30’s, 40’s and early 50’s tunes, plus some of Bram’s original compositions.

Tamir's travels have taken him from Alaska to New York, and Thailand to lsrael to Topeka. With his own trio, he explores standards, Brazilian music, blues and his lsraeli roots. This will be Tamir's 6th visit to TJW and we expect to see more of him as his career continues to expand.
DECEMBER 3, 2017 HOUSTON PERSON
Legendary Houston Person is a rock solid, full-toned tenor saxophonist who plays ballads and blues with flair, expressive ardor and power. Plus, he's just great fun to listen to. Appearing on our stage for the first time in 2013, we've had many requests for his return. Joining Houston will be Joe Cartwright (piano), Mike Warren (drums) and Tyrone Clark (bass).
JANUARY 14, 2018 DICK OATTS AND TERELL STAFFORD
With Dick on alto sax and Terell on trumpet, sparks will fly! Both are based on the East Coast and are accomplished musicians in every sense from big band to smaller groups, as soloists and clinicians as well as writers, arrangers and educators. Joining Dick and Terell from Kansas City will be Todd Strait, Bob Bowman and Roger Wilder. This will be a powerful afternoon oI jazz.
FEBRUARY 18, 2018 ENORMOUS GUITAR
Guitarist Danny Embrey has arranged and compiled a book of jazz standards that are played by an ensemble of 5 guitars. He says it's like one giant guitar with 30 strings. We are more than excited to present this group of KC guitarists for an afternoon of interesting stylings of our favorite jazz tunes.
MARCH 11, 2018 KEN PEPLOWSKI AND EHUD ASHERIE
No one this season has graced our stages as many times as clarinetis/saxophonist, Ken Peplowski. Beginning in 1990, he's appeared on this stage or at the former Topeka Jazz Festival 11 times. We're really glad to have him back, along with NY pianist, Ehud Asherie. Adding Todd Strait on drums and Gerald Spaits on bass makes for a wonderful afternoon.
